Adaptive Disaster Recovery

A complete remote office data protection solution must include the ability to recover following any type of data loss. The local backup and recovery capabilities of Xpress Restore® DR address the loss of data at the application, server or storage level, including accidental deletion, virus attacks, device failures, etc.

But enterprises also need to be able to recover when an entire site, including the local Xpress Restore server, is affected by a service outage which can be caused by an extended power failure, or a more serious disaster such as a flood, fire, earthquake or worse. To address the need for an off-site copy of data to perform disaster recovery and business continuance, FilesX offers Xpress Restore DR.

Xpress Restore DR employs our unique "selective replication" techniques that provide policy-based levels of protection, granularity and security while keeping the strain on systems and WAN bandwidth to a minimum. Also, Xpress Restore DR eliminates the costs, unreliability and security risks associated with shipping copies of backup tapes to an off-site facility to meet basic DR requirements.

The main features of Xpress Restore DR include:

  • Seamless integration with Xpress Restore (simply check the "DR" box when setting up a backup policy)
  • Achieve fast Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) using Xpress Restore's patented Virtual RecoveryTM technology from the central DR site - remote applications can be up and running in minutes following any type of disaster
  • Set Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) on a per-application basis - reduce the costs of protecting less-critical data sets
  • Use Xpress Restore's Bare Metal Restore (BMR) functionality to restore entire servers to standby systems - FilesX BMR supports restoration to dissimilar hardware, including Virtual Machines, and can save customers an enormous amount of money
